General information

Welcome to Graz, Styria, Austria!

Mid-September – amidst the local harvest season with very agreeable climate and with the surrounding nature in one of its most beautiful states of the year – is an ideal time to visit Graz. Graz is the capital of the Province of Styria and, with about a population of about 300.000, Austria's second largest city. The unique old town of Graz was awarded World Cultural Heritage by UNESCO in 1999 and was the European Cultural Capital 2003.

CLM 2025 will be held at the University of Graz which hosts around 30.000 students of all disciplines and is, together with the other universities in town, a main contributor to the appealing "Graz way of life" atmosphere so hard to forget for those who got to breathe it.

The assembly takes place in the Geography & Mathematics Building of the University of Graz, Heinrichstrasse 36 >> site map (meeting rooms, Graz) & WiFi info

Public transport in Graz: The existing dense public transport system of tramway and bus lines is generally the most convenient and reasonable everyday choice to reach the workshop location, a hotel, or any other place in town. Graz is also a very walkable city.

  • From the main train station (Hauptbahnhof): Bus lines 58 (stop Uni/Mozartgasse or Liebiggasse) and 63 (stop Uni/Attemsgasse) both start here and take you to the conference venue. From Hauptbahnhof, there are also several tram lines going directly into the city center.
  • From the city center:
Bus line 31 toward “Uni/ReSoWi”, exit there
Bus line 39 toward "Wirtschaftskammer", stop Zinzendorfgasse or Geidorfplatz
Tram 1 toward "Mariatrost", stop Merangasse
Tram 7 toward "St. Leonhard/Klinikum Mitte", stop Merangasse

How to get to Graz: detailed info provided by the University of Graz.

  • The airport Graz-Thalerhof is linked to the city both by train and bus, ca. 30 minutes to the main train station or city center.
  • The airport Vienna-Schwechat is connected to Graz via train and Flixbus, ca. 3 hours to the main train station.
  • Arrival by car: Please note that the area around the campus is either short-term parking (blue zone) or long-term parking (green zone), both requiring a fee. You need to pay at the nearby parking meters and place the receipt in a visible place (such as on the dashboard) in your car.

The workshop will take place at the ground floor meeting facilities of the Geography & Mathematics Building of the University of Graz, Heinrichstrasse 36 (link to Google Maps). This building is part of the University Campus, which is located within only 10 to 15 minutes walking distance from city center.

The main meeting room infrastructure meets all professional requirements including sloped seat rows, a slide projector, one presentation laptop/PC, and high-end video beamer equipment. WiFi internet access is available on campus (eduroam). Several power supply for participant laptops are provided. Permanent staff allocated to the area ensures proper maintenance of all facilities and support to participants during the entire workshop.
